rroma pride is a programme led by la fragua projects that addresses a reality that still remains largely unseen: the discrimination experienced by rroma lgtbiq+ people at the intersection of racism and lgtbiphobia.

it is a pioneering programme in both the spanish state and across europe, where there are virtually no structured initiatives specifically focused on the realities of rroma lgtbiq+ communities. this gap makes it necessary to create dedicated spaces, situated knowledge and tailored responses.

the programme brings together research, community-based action and policy transfer in order to improve responses to these inequalities, grounded in an anti-racist, feminist and intersectional approach.

one of its core elements is the creation of safe spaces for rroma lgtbiq+ people. these are environments of encounter where care, trust and the absence of judgement or violence are prioritised. within them, each person decides how to participate, what to share and how far to be visible. it is not only about the possibility of speaking, but about being able to exist without fear. in contexts often marked by hostility, these spaces place the protection of people at the centre, regardless of their circumstances, trajectories or life situations. the aim is clear: to preserve their lives, wellbeing and dignity, ensuring that taking part never implies an unwanted risk. far from assistentialist approaches, these spaces position people as active protagonists, supporting their participation in processes of analysis, collective organising and the development of proposals grounded in their own experience.

through these processes, rroma pride develops tools, methodologies and networks that enable learning to be transferred to other contexts, contributing to the improvement of public policies and to transforming how intersectional discrimination is understood and addressed.
